Where Milwaukee musicians take center stage!
Musicians for May 29th include:
Ethan Chen
Ethan Chen, violin, was a performer and scholarship winner in the 2024 High School Competition Showcase Recital. He was also a performer in the 2023 Showcase Recital. He is finishing his junior year at New Berlin Eisenhower High School.
Zak Chen
Zak Chen, violin, was a performer and a Young Artist Scholarship winner in the 2023 High School Competition Showcase Recital. He has just finished his freshman year at UW-Madison where he is double majoring in Chemistry and Violin Performance.
Junho Chung
Junho Chung, piano, earned a spot on the Showcase Recital of the 2024 High School Competition. He is finishing his junior year at Brookfield Central High School. He has won numerous awards from Wisconsin State Music Association, Wisconsin Music Teachers Association, and the Sejong Music Competition. He also performs regularly with his high school orchestra.
Lucas LaBeau
Lucas LaBeau, piano, earned a spot on the Showcase Recital of the 2023 High School Competition. He also earned the Lee Guse Memorial Jazz Scholarship associated with that competition. He is a graduating senior at Greendale High School and will attend Berklee College of Music in the fall studying jazz piano and music production. He also participated with the Greendale Marching Band as a featured soloist in the 2023 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, and is a recent recipient of several scholarships from organizations such as Jazz Unlimited and Young Arts.
Collin Runnoe
Collin Runnoe, cello, earned the top Young Arts Scholarship in the 2024 High School Competition. He was also a performer and Young Artist Scholarship winner in the 2023 High School Competition Showcase Recital. He is a 2024 finalist in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s Stars of Tomorrow Competition and won Honorable Mention in 2022 and 2023. This summer he will embark on a South American tour as a cellist in the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) including a concert at Carnegie Hall prior to the tour. He has participated in the WMSA’s Solo and Ensemble and Honors Orchestra for six years. He plays in the Advanced Chamber Music Institute at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. He is a junior attending Whitefish Bay High School.
Steph Lippert
Steph Lippert is a busy working musician and board member of CIVIC MUSIC MKE. A Milwaukee pianist, trombonist, singer-songwriter, and music educator, she moved here in 2010 to pursue studies in Collaborative Piano and Trombone performance. Since 2010, she has worked actively as an accompanist for local churches, schools, and instrumentalists. In addition, she enjoys teaching privately, DJing under the name Gramma Matrix. Other local bands you may see her perform with include The Brew City Big Band, L’Resorts, Lady Cannon, Ruth B8r Ginsburg, and her own band which she started in March of 2021, The Steph Lippert Project.
