Get Involved
Reaching students through music can change a life's path.
Life can be a jumble of challenges and obstacles.
Overwhelming...unless an observant teacher notices and suggests that with some hard work, you would be a valued member of the band or orchestra or choir. That was exactly what happened for one young musician in our Private Lesson Program this past season. At first, lessons were difficult. But with persistence, she found that she was able to meet her challenges head on and find success, hope and joy.
To provide exceptional opportunities to students and teachers, we rely on your continued generosity.

PLANNED GIVING
Here are a few options that enable you to extend your generosity.
Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
If you are at least 70.5 years old, you may want to consider a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). A QCD allows a distribution directly from your IRA to a qualified charity of your choice. If you are age 73 or older, you can use a QCD to satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD).
The rules for a QCD allow taxpayers to make IRA distributions up to $100,000 payable directly to a qualified charitable organization like CIVIC MUSIC without treating the distribution as taxable income.
To transfer your RMD to CIVIC MUSIC MKE, you will need to provide your investment professional with our EIN #: 39-6123323.
Legacy Giving
Sometimes our desire to give major gifts does not meet our financial abilities. Legacy giving is a way to make a lasting impact through your estate. After providing for you loved one, you may have the ability to structure a planned gift that will satisfy your philanthropic and tax goals. One easy way to name a charity of your choice as a whole or partial beneficiary of your IRA or 401(k).
Gifts of Appreciated Securities
Still another way is to gift appreciated securities to a charitable organization like CIVIC MUSIC. Capital gains on the amount of appreciation are avoided, and the donor receives a tax deduction for the stock’s full market value on stocks owned longer than one year. Contact your investment and/or tax professional for more information.
Don't forget to contact your tax professional when making any of these decisions!
Board member Joe Hausch, Hausch Design Agency, has put some of his CIVIC MUSIC related artwork on Fine Art America. With each sale, proceeds come back to CIVIC MUSIC. Take a look!
