Paul Hauer, violin

Violinist Paul Hauer joined the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra in the fall of 2016. Solo and concerto performances have brought Mr. Hauer to the countries of Germany, Greece, France, the Czech Republic, Vietnam, Mexico, Canada, and the Philippines. Chamber music and orchestral concerts have brought him to Italy, San Marino, Singapore, Mexico, and China. Before moving to Milwaukee, Mr. Hauer was Principal Second Violin of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra and performed regularly with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Louisville Orchestra.

 

Mr. Hauer participated in the 4th Leonidas Kavakos International Masterclass in Athens, Greece in 2015. Earlier that year, he performed the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra (Missouri), while other honors include winning the Indianapolis Matinée Musicale Collegiate Competition in 2013. In the summer of 2011, he toured Europe with the Denver Young Artists Orchestra as the soloist for the Barber Violin Concerto. While serving as teaching assistant to Addison Teng, he performed and taught lessons with the Teng Studio on international tours.

 

His early violin training came from Gloria Schroeder and Ferenc FenyÅ‘. Hauer also studied with Stéphane Tran Ngoc, Carol Leybourn, Catherine Walby, and Dr. Kyung-Ran Kim through the Lawrence Community Music School. He has attended the Montecito International Music Festival, Oberlin in Italy, and International Academie de Courchevel. Hauer received his degrees from Oberlin Conservatory and Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. His principal teachers include Addison Teng and Alex Kerr. As a teacher, Mr. Hauer is on faculty at the Fulton Summer Music Academy, the Fulton Conservatory of Music, and coaches strings at the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Hauer is a native of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and performs with the Peninsula Music Festival in Door County each summer.

Steven Ayers earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in piano from Indiana University Bloomington, where he was awarded a Performer’s Certificate. He also holds a Master’s degree in accounting and has worked for many years as a CPA in tax compliance. He has taught piano privately for many years and enjoys accompanying musicians of all ages and levels. He has performed several concerti with the Milwaukee Summer Philharmonia and given numerous solo recitals, including a complete Beethoven sonata cycle, and is nearing the completion of both books of the Well-Tempered Clavier. Steven is the 2025 Artist in Residence at the Racine Symphony Orchestra. He is also the proud father of two professional musicians.

Cellist Peter J Thomas has been a member of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra since 2008 and has captivated audiences worldwide as a multi-genre soloist, chamber musician, and educator. He performs frequently throughout southeastern Wisconsin as a solo act on the electric cello and plays his own arrangements of classical, original, and pop/rock songs through looping, effects, while singing vocals. With a passion for musical innovation through looping and effects, Peter seamlessly blends classical and contemporary styles, ensuring a truly unforgettable performance.

Fashionably Late

Fashionably Late is a high-energy jazz, funk, and pop band from Milwaukee, WI. Formed in 2021 by a group of University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee music students, the band features powerful vocals by Anthony Kopczynski (also piano), a dynamic rhythm section including Conor Dugan (bass), and Ben Piette (drums), and a fiery horn line comprised of Mathew Tulloch (saxophone), Eddy Magallanes (saxophone), and Ben Skrade (trombone).

 

The band has played on a multitude of stages, including The Sugar Maple (Bay View), Let It Be (Waukesha), and many private spaces. With a sound that blends tight funk grooves, soulful improvisation, and crowd-pleasing pop hits, Fashionably Late brings an infectious energy to every stage — keeping audiences dancing and singing all night long.
