WAWM Shining Strings
West Allis-West Milwaukee Shining Strings

The West Allis-West Milwaukee Shining Strings are a string ensemble made up of WAWM School District orchestra students in grades 7-12. This ensemble gives highly motivated string players the opportunity to perform music of a level that is more advanced than music performed in their respective school orchestras. Shining Strings provides a unique mentor program between high school and intermediate school aged string players and gives all students a true sense of belonging.

Milwaukee Trombone Quartet
Milwaukee Trombone 4tet

The Milwaukee Trombone Quartet is part of the Milwaukee Trombone Choir.  The Milwaukee Trombone Choir rehearses weekly during the summer and performs two concerts annually at the end of summer.  Its members come from trombone sections in many Milwaukee area bands and orchestras, including Concord Chamber Orchestra, Menomonee Falls Symphony Orchestra, Knightwind Wind Ensemble, Command Performance Big Band, Jazz Express, and the Waukesha Area Symphonic Band.  The members of this quartet are (from left to right) Kent Tess-Mattner, Stephen Trenier, Peter Thompson, and Mark Gerard.

Ben Piette and Friends consists of Casimir Riley (saxophone,) Connor Dugan (bass,) Tael Estremara (piano,) Corynn Latta (vocals,) and Ben Piette (drums.) They are Milwaukee-based musicians who have been playing together for a little over a year and typically focus on jazz “standards” (tunes from the jazz canon which are played regularly and jazz musicians are expected to know) but oftentimes with a contemporary twist. The group has played around Milwaukee at notable venues such as The Ivy House, Riverwest Pizza, The Oconomowoc Lake Club, The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Vendetta Coffee, to name a few. The majority of the group has yet to graduate college, which provides good reason for the local music community to be excited and energized about the next generation of players.
